DVT deep vein thrombosis forum

One new option for people who have been diagnosed with a blood clot is Thrombolysis which uses medicines and devices to remove the blood clot. While not risk free, and not offered universally, the following doctors and institutions do offer this. If you think you may be interested, it is important to act quickly. Blood clots harden within the first several weeks, making it much more difficult to remove the clot. This procedure has risks and you should discuss with your doctors the tradeoffs for your particular situation.

Am I crazy or just gaining weight more easily? I swear my abdomen has gotten
larger ever since I started on Coumadin. I don't believe my eating habits have
changed or my activity level has changed. Has anyone else experienced this?

Numbness and control problems in leg after dvt

Let see about two years ago i had a lateral release (And cleaning) done to the right knee to fix a long standing injury.

Four days after surgery i developed a dvt and two days after that parts broke of and i got pulmonary embolisms (i waited a day to go in Dumb ehh.lol)

I was put on warfin for ten months and seem to have no permanent damage.

Problem is if i walk to hard or to far or exercise too much everything from the knee down starts feeling like its much heaver.
If i keep pushing i start having trouble controlling it and and keeping my foot from flopping around.

Had ultrasounds done and circulation appears fine.

Had a mri done and it only showed mild swelling in the knee.

Never test appeared fine also.

This didn't happen before the surgry/dvt and only happens from the knee down.
I was sent to a specialist doctor Charles Godfrey who diagnosed me with osteochondritis .
Only problem is he kept forgetting which leg it was and repeating questions 10 sec after ... read more

Eliquis and confusion

Howdy,

Question-Has anyone else had a "foggy brain" after taking Eliquis?

I was put on Eliquis 5 months ago for DVT/PE. I immediately had
headaches which still come and go. I was always tired (could have
been the PE, extra forgetful, and had trouble thinking clearly.
Even after they say the clots have adhered and calsified or
dissolved, I still experience the brain fog. I hope once I get off
Eliquis it might go away?

Wow my CAPTHCHA is Cerveza BLVD. How do I find a house on that
street?

Best

Hi, I have been on warafin for about 2years now. I had a clot in my calf. I was on the medication for about 2 months before I was able to get off of it. Then 4 months later I had another clot in the same place. Now I am on it for the rest of my life or until they find a cure. That was in 2008, I haven't had another clot since. I stay active and exercise minimum of 3 times per week. I am looking to get back in the military. I have been out for over 20 years. I lost my job this year and work is hard to find. Does anyone know if I am able to join with the medication I am taking.

On work trip

Had DVT four years ago (partial occlusion from ankle to groin) that resolved with
Xarelto and rest. Was taken off Xarelto six months later. Had Doppler 18 months
ago after I thought I was showing signs again but was clear and it turns out it was
pain from walking a lot with bad shoes and zero stretching. Anyhow, I've had
bruises marks (damaged blood vessels, varicose) around ankle and where knee
bends on inside ever since DVT and leg has always been more swollen and
slightly more red than the other ever since. On a work trip and having symptoms
and have to fly to Texas tomorrow and then home to CT Tuesday. No way to see
someone before so plan to drink a ton of water, wear my compression stockings
and move feet constantly on flights. Anything else I can do to help? I'm taking
aspirin and supplements to thin out blood as well. Job keeps me on feet or sitting
all day so this morning swelling was down and tonight it's back up after long day.

DVT - 10 days in (glioblastoma)

Hello Friends,

I am a 25 year old male who was diagnosed with brain cancer
(glioblastoma type 4) in early February. I am doing radiation and
was doing chemo (Temodar - stopped after my platelet count went
under 100k). 10 days ago I had what felt like a muscle cramp
(while still on the temodar), however it did not get better by the
Monday after when I saw my radiologist. He was concerned about the
acute nature and ordered a dobbler ultrasound. I had previously
had a muscle cramp a month prior and also went through an ultra
sound in the same leg, but they found no clot at that time (they
did find a blood clot this second time). Anyway, my question is
now 10 days later (after my blood clot formed) and while on
lovenox I have these occasional feelings of pulsing right near the
clot (completely painless, feels like when your heart is raising
and one of your veins pulses), especially when I first sit down or
lay down. Have any of you experienced this? S... read more

Medical Alert Tattoo

I certainly don't want to bring up the subject of tattooing while on coumadin, that's been beaten to death here. I did have a medical alert bracelet that was made of stainless steel and was great looking jewelry as well. I lost it this week hiking with the dog. Maybe I'll find it when the snow melts in April. Anyway, I was thinking about getting a Medical Alert Tattoo. I did my homework and it appears that the tattoos are more common than I thought. Does anyway out here have one?

Anyone who has been diagnosed as having May-Thurner Syndrome is invited to inquire how to join the May-Thurner Syndrome Forum that I have begun on Google Groups.

Simply e-mail me at woodcreek12@aol.com to request a personal invitation to join our group. Our mission is to share information on MTS and stent procedures, as most of us with MTS have stents in our iliac veins.

May-Thurner Syndrome and Iliac Vein Compression Syndrome (IVCS) are the same thing, a congenital abnormality that causes compression on the iliac vein, which over time can lead to a DVT.

Hi I was diagnosed with acute dvt and mild pulmonary embolism March 3. Had a
severe swollen left leg and couldn't walk. Dvt extended into my iliac. Now after
one month and blood thinning injections I can walk much better and swelling
drastically reduced but checking my inr yesterday with my other doctor not my
haematologist as I was having bandages changed for my breast reconstruction
post breast cancer my inr was 1.0. I will follow up with my haematologist later
today but would like to hear your opinion. All other blood tests came back normal
and I generally feel 70% better than when I was first diagnosed with acute
extended dvt. Thank you

Hi, I have been taking Warfarin since December and I have like many tiredness, and often feeling really cold and shivery. I kinda accepted these side effects but I have been recently experiencing a lot of joint pain in knees and legs which has greatly reduced my mobility. (Am also waiting for a knee arthroscopy) I have just had blood tests back and i have been told I have very raised blood levels showing there is a inflammation and I will now have to see a rheumatologist asap. Before the injury i had and DVT last december I was very healthy and always on the move at work, ggoing to the gym sometimes and although not ultra sporty by any means i was fit and active at the least and had no joint issues.
Has anyone else experienced joint pain on Warfarin? Has anyone else had their medication changed from Warfarin as a result of joint inflammation? Would love to hear your experiences if this affected you. I am gathering info on this so that i can go to my doc armed with some potential ev... read more

Hi,
I was hoping someone could tell me anything about bumping your head on while on coumadin. I have been having dull headaches for a few weeks now. The dr assured me not from coumadin probably stress related. My right eye keeps going blurry on me and a couple of days ago my tongue and lips felt numb. I bumped my head on the corner of a shelf a few weeks ago and was wondering if this is something to worry about. It didn't hit real hard and didnt give it much thought at the time. Now with some of these problems I am having I'm wondering if they are related. Thanks
