One new option for people who have been diagnosed with a blood clot is Thrombolysis which uses medicines and devices to remove the blood clot. While not risk free, and not offered universally, the following doctors and institutions do offer this. If you think you may be interested, it is important to act quickly. Blood clots harden within the first several weeks, making it much more difficult to remove the clot. This procedure has risks and you should discuss with your doctors the tradeoffs for your particular situation.

Clexane Overdose?

I was diagnosed with DVT at 37 weeks pregnant and immediately started on 120mg Clexane Forte injections.

My dose has never been altered since I gave birth 8 weeks ago and I am currently breastfeeding.

Yesterday I went for a blood test. Today I had an urgent phone call to say that the dose I am on id far to high and I must stop taking it immediately. Tomorrow I have to go and get a prescription for a lower dose.

Could this have done me or my baby any harm? Has this happened to anyone else?

Recently diagnosed DVT now pain in other leg

5 weeks ago I had an op to have my gallbladder removed. Within a week I had
been diagnosed with a small clot in my right calf. I was given Clexane injections
& after 4 weeks told to stop the injections & remove stockings as they did not
believe the pain I was experiencing was due to the clot. 1 week later I was
back at hospital. The pain had increased & was now higher in my leg. I had
another scan & was advised I now had a clot above my knee, they could not
confirm if its a new clot or if the old one had moved.
I have now being taken warfrin for 2 days & heprin injections. My concern is I
am now experiencing pain in my other leg. It is behund my knee & is a spiky
pain, similar to that I was experiencing in my DVT leg.
Is this a side effect of medication or is it another clot? If it could be another
clot will they do anything as they are ready sorting meds for right leg? Should I
spk to doctor or see if things settle?
My husband thinks I'm worrying for nothin... read more

DVT - then arthritis both kness

I have had a DVT behind left knee since December and now both knees have swollen up with fluid and are getting worse. There is certainly more pain in DVT leg which has also a torn meniscus but out of blue right knee started to swell up. Had it checked - thankfully no DVT. I get little sleep and can barely get out of bed in the morning as legs are so stiff and painful so have to use my crutches.
Eventually saw the orthopedic consultant who has referred me for MRI scan but have to wait for 8 weeks!! The process with the NHS is sooo slow. I had to wait 3 months to see him! If I had been seen earlier by orthopedics maybe right leg wouldn't have ended up being a problem too.
Just wondered if anyone else ended up with arthritis as a result of DVT and immobility? I find that heat seems to help a bit. Any suggestions?

Hello everyone, on Thursday I was diagnosed with a dvt in my left thigh. This came as a massive shock as I am 30, very active, not overweight and a non smoker. I initially thought that the pain I was experiencing was sciatica as it started in my back last weekend and gradually moved to my leg. After a doppler and an mri, a clot was confirmed. My first concern was for my unborn baby but i'm been reasurred that the risk lies with me alone....
I have been put on daily heparin injections and this morning as i was injecting into my belly, i noticed a tiny amount of blood coming out of the injection point. I think i may have tried to take the needle out too quickly. However, I now have a big purple bruise where the needle went in but no pain. Is it common to bruise after injectioms??
Also, My leg is in a lot of pain and i cannot take anything strong enough to help. I know every person and clot is different but in general did people find the pain began to get better over time??

Return of DVT

I was diagnosed with a DVT in my left groin in 2009 - believed to have been birth
control induced - because I was healthy and only 39 with no history. I was even
taken off my warafarin after 1 year of treatment. I've been on low dose aspirin
ever since with no problems. I noticed before I went to bed last night some
pulling and pain in my left thigh. It has continued today - yet no red streak like
before. Should I be concerned ?

DVT after childbirth

Hi there,

I developed a DVT in my left thigh 2 weeks after giving birth to my son. I'm now on Warfarin 1mg and I wear compression socks everyday. My INR levels are around 2.5-3. I have been able to walk around my house the last few days and look after my 1 month old son. Just wondering if anyone else out there is in the same position as me and what symptoms they had with the Warfarin. I have been bleeding slightly when I empty my bowels and I think it may just be a haemorrhoid that gets aggravated. I can't wait to be 'normal' again (if that is possible) and go on with life. I was lucky not to have any PE's and I have had an ultrasound where it was clear and they said I was at a very low risk of developing them.

Pregnancy After DVT

Hey everyone,
I was diagnosed with DVT 6 weeks after giving birth to my beautiful daughter who is now almost 7 months old. My clot ran from the top of my hip down to the top of my knee. Doctors sent me to have surgery two days after finding. Surgery went great, they placed two stents but two days after surgery I had developed another clot. Both of my stents are completely clotted off and my doctor says that I will never have use of the vein again. I go back to the doctor on the 28th for a reevaulation to see if i can finally get off warfarin after 6 months. I am so worried about getting pregnant again. Has anyone gone through a similar experience?

Side Effects Last How Long after stopping

Hi: My name is Don and I was taking warfarin for 18 months. I then developed a severe reaction and all the side effects (side effects I had before as well and no one told me) and then quit. Does anyone know how long it takes before your body and mind get back to normal? I was so tried, fatigued, lethargic, cold and all the rest. I just said enough.

Please respond to me. Thank you

Anyone have any experience of the above combination? My Dr thinks unrelated but can't get my head round this as all relate to either initial inability to clot or clotting too damn much!

Odd combination but I can't be alone out there!?

Sorry so many questions!!!
