One new option for people who have been diagnosed with a blood clot is Thrombolysis which uses medicines and devices to remove the blood clot. While not risk free, and not offered universally, the following doctors and institutions do offer this. If you think you may be interested, it is important to act quickly. Blood clots harden within the first several weeks, making it much more difficult to remove the clot. This procedure has risks and you should discuss with your doctors the tradeoffs for your particular situation.

Hi, I have mechanical heart valves and have been on warfarin for over 2 decades. Recently my INR was at 6.7 and I was advised to stop taking warfarin for 3 days. I am scared for fear of a stroke or blood clot. Can anybody please advise if been in a similar situation?

Thank you.

Easily winded after DVT

Back in late June 2015, I was treated at age 32 for a DVT in which three pieces had broken off and lodged in my lungs. I was on Xarelto for six months. To this day, I struggle with getting winded whenever I have to use stairs. I get VERY winded whether it's three steps or more than one flight of stairs. I'm know I'm not the most fit person but I immediately noticed a difference in myself after recovering from the clots, and others close to me have noticed it too (although several have joked that I'm just "out of shape"). I am curious to know if anyone else has experienced this long after a DVT?

Hi...
I have been on warfarin for about 8 months and have had zero sex drive since. Has anyone else had this side effect, and did you get your sex drive back after you came off warfarin?

Sorry, this is a more risque topic for this forum, but I want to know I am not alone, and want to know if it is going to come back! I am only 26!

Looking forward to any answers,
Lucy

Exercise after massive DVT?

I was 35, fit, healthy, never took birth control pills, no serious injuries... and then out of nowhere I had a massive dvt in January 2005 and nearly died. My left leg and left side of abdomen and groin were affected and I am still using a walker (frame) to get around. I'm on Coumadin daily, and also am eating some spinach every day (for me, the vitamin k helps my inr levels to stabilize).
I have gained approx. 100 lbs and am by far the largest I have ever been. My doctors tell me in the same breath that I must lose weight, but to not do anything to elevate my blood pressure (which is low) or my heart rate!
There's a serious risk with having lyposuction, etc, so other than that, how am I supposed to lose weight?! I DO watch what I eat, am careful about what I eat and how much and am eating far less than what I ate when healthy and fit (pre-dvt), but I'm huge. My pharmacist pointed out side effects to Coumadin such as weight gain, insomnia, hair loss, and I have all the side effec... read more

Paranoid, maybe?

My story starts in October, when, after 10+ hours non stop trying to finish a paper,
my right forearm started swelling out of nowhere and non-stop. I actually had a
friend have dvt in the arm, so, I rushed to the hospital. The doctors actually took
me serious, ended up having a doppler ultrasound for that arm that came back
clear, and doctor said probably tendinitis.

About a month later, after no exercise or overuse at all, I start with a pain on my
left calf. Lasts for maybe a day before I realize it's swollen. Again, I rush to the
hospital. This time, they do a doppler on both my legs. Again, clear. This was last
November. A day or two later, my right thigh starts to swell (we have left calf and
right thigh so far), as does my left upperarm. So, I'm randomly swelling all over at
this point and 3/4 of my limbs have been ultrasounded.

I go to a pneumo-cardio doctor who asks for all tests, including the d-dimer,
factors that could influence the formation o... read more

Hi, wondering if anyone on this forum has had blood clots while on Testosterone
Replacement Therapy? I had my first calf DVT in 2013 after flying but was on TRT
at the time. After 6 mos of anticoagulants, was taken off and remained on TRT.
Fast forward 4 yrs, had another smaller calf DVT and am on the thinners again. I
am thinking it is the TRT since hemo has tested me for clotting disorders. Any
thoughts/experiences?

Diagnosed with Dvt behind left knee back In
October which has been treated with Xarelto for the
last four months. I've now been taken off Xarelto as
the clot flared up again four weeks ago and hasn't
improved since.

I've started Innohep yesterday and I'm to inject this
into me for the next six months.

Has anyone else experienced problems with
Xarelto not working??

Anyone else on Innohep??

Greenfield filter pain

Hi there, I was recently diagnosed with May-Thurner and Factor II mutation complicating the matter. I had a procedure done a couple of days ago to place a stent in the iliac vein and a greenfield filter in my IVC. Has anyone experienced severe right flank pain after having the greenfield filter put in? My doctors did a CT scan to make sure that there was no internal bleeding and it looked normal. They suggested that the pain may be from the procedure or the filter. Thank you for your input

I started experimenting with meth about 3 monthsago I wanted too see what all the fuss was about. Wow What an amazing rush. you feel invincible ten times better than coke lasts longer and is 1/4 the price . Sound good ? Think again two days later you go into a horrible deppresion.nothing can cheer you up insanely horrible dreams and to top it of I was addmittted to emergency with blinding pain in my big toe . turned out to be deep vein thrombosis in my foot. I am convinced this was caused by the corrosive action of the smoke on my lungs... bottom line i had to have my toe amputated. I am recovering alright i guess but i wish i could incinerate every fragment of that drug that exists. this shit is pure and absolute poison i wouldnt use that for $100,000 just my experience hope it helps someone

Possible returning blood clot

In July 2015 I was not feeling well. My leg was hurting and there
was some swelling and a warm to touch spot. My wife (a nurse)
woke up in the middle of the night and told me she thinks I have a
blood clot. A week later, I finally I went to the Dr because I
was having chest pain and they told me that I had FOUR PEs, two in
each lung. Fast forward to present...I have been having leg pain
starting my my ankle and it has worked its way up to my groin.
After a week I have started getting a cough and chest pain. I
went to the ER and they did a D Dimer and it came back no clot.
Previously, my clots has "landed" in my lungs and were not moving.
Not not feeling and better and have chest pain....any thoughts? My
D Dimer was 120 so they did no scan or ultrasound.

Warfarin and Chloramphenicol (red eyes drops)

Hi,

I was diagnosed with a DVT in my left arm 6 weeks ago. After reaction to Apixaban, I have been on Warfarin. I take now 9 mg/day and my last INR (6 days ago) was 3.2.

Since the reaction to Apixaban, I've had some red veins in both my eyes. After waiting a few weeks for this to disappear, it hasn't. Three days ago I consulted my GP, who gave me a prescription for Chloramphenicol eye drops (0.5% w/v) twice a day. I could see that when he chose the medicine, the computer flag a pop-up with warning signs, which he quickly closed. I asked if this medicine was ok with Warfarin, to which he said yes.

However, I have now seen online that it is not recommended to take this (there's a review article from 2005 in JAMA Archives Internal Medicine) as there is possibly a moderate interaction. I am now concerned, and unsure to put on the drops or not. I have my next INR test scheduled for monday.

Anyone has been on these eye drops (which contain an antibacterial) while on Warfarin?

Has anyone experienced this after a DVT? I had my DVT back in December/Jan and am now off Warfarin. Everything has been fine up until a week or so ago when I started having this foot pain, worse in one foot than the other. It has gradually been getting worse and my feet feel really heavy and painful.
