One new option for people who have been diagnosed with a blood clot is Thrombolysis which uses medicines and devices to remove the blood clot. While not risk free, and not offered universally, the following doctors and institutions do offer this. If you think you may be interested, it is important to act quickly. Blood clots harden within the first several weeks, making it much more difficult to remove the clot. This procedure has risks and you should discuss with your doctors the tradeoffs for your particular situation.

I have a history of dvt's and yesterday noticed
my leg was a little swollen now today I have
slight pain and I feel a pulsating feeling in my
calf. I have no insurance and am wondering if
this is reason enough to go to the emergency
room.

Hi all, sorry if I am repeating this-
I was diagnosed with two dvt,s after shoulder surgery - one in my upper
arm one in my vena cava. I am taking warfarin and have had clexanne, my
veins are still pronounced and i get 'sparkles' of pain in my chest. I
am short of breathe (i did have my lung punctured in one operation) and
still stuggling in a sling. Please can you tell me if this pain is
normal after three months of warfarin - inr 1.9 - just getting really
tired of this now - :)

I have lupus with the antiphoshpholipid syndrome. I have never had a blood clot but take aspirin every day as a precaution. Yesterday I came back from a 4 day trip which required 6 hours of round trip air flight. Today I am experiencing calf pain. It feels like I have a rubber band just under my knee cutting off circulation to my lower leg. this causes my thigh to burn slightly and the skin to be sensitive. I don't see any swelling or redness, the calf may be slightly warm but could be my paranoia. I am going to watch this tonight but I am wondering if this sounds like DVT??? I am a 46 year old female with no other complications at this time (other than a benign tremor) Thanks for your support.

I am waiting on the call from my doctor and stressing. I had a clot from groin to ankle.
There was still some Thrombis around my groin. It seems the blood is flowing around it
well. Pain is not as bad as it once was. He was just trying to call my doctor right after he
was done. I did not know if that was normal .. kind of freaked me out. He told me that
we would probably look at it again in another 6 months. He being the guy running the
sonogram. Anyone else experience something like this? I assume this means 6 more
months of oumadin which I am ok with.

I broke my ankle on 5th of October. I have a plaster cast now and I am
using clutches. I got very sick and diagnosed with pneumonia on 19th. I
am using antibiotics and today dr said pneumonia has declined greatly.
But for two days I have strange pain in my calf(on my casted leg) which
I feel only when I am standing with clutches and it lasts for a minute
or so. The pain only happens when I stand up, when I move it goes
away. I have no pain when I sit or lay down. What do you think? Could
it be DVT?

Hey guys I was diagnosed with May Thurner Syndrome August 2010... after being admitted to the hospital for clots from my groin to ankle and a PE. They put a 14 mm stent in my left illiac vein. Just went for my 6 month ultrasound and they said my vein was blocked 80 to 90 percent from my stent to my knee and is probably scar tissue now. My vascular surgeon believe that my stent has already collapsed. Didn't even last 6 months? Has anyone had a similar experience? And what did they do?

I have had afib since 1997 treated for Cardiomyopathy....however in 2007 was rediagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome....after multiple attempts to Ablate the aberrant heartbeat without success a pacemaker and defibrillator were implanted...I was on coumadin from 1997 until approx 6months ago when I was placed on Pradaxa...the first blood work done in May showed a decrease in my H&H....I had it repeated to check the situation and now hg. is down to 10.9...since the only thing that has changed is this medication I wonder if anyone else has experienced it....or has heard that this could be a side effect of this medication?

Hi all, I had a bad fall 8 weeks ago (just walking to my car such a clumsy fool lol) and fractured my left ankle, couldnt get in to see my regular doctor so went to the nearest medical centre, after having xrays and being told it was fractured the doctor sent me to a physio to have it put in a FULL cast. The physio said he thought i should have gone into a walkiing boot or at least a back slab for a week, but did as the doctor requested, I have never broken anything before so didnt know any different. After 5 days I started cramping badly in my left calf so went back to this doctor to ask if its just muscle cramping, He squeezed my toes a couple of times and said wait till end of week and if its still sore come back. I found paperwork from the physio which said to contact them immediately if i suffer from cramping, so I rang him, The physio told me to come straight in and he cut my cast in half and sent me up for an ultrasound, The discovered 2 large clotts (DVT) in my calf and rushe... read more

Hi guys,

I'm 19 and I was first diagnosed with DVT in my right leg at the end
of February. I was in the hospital for about two weeks. They found a
clot from just below my knee to just under my ribcage. I had a CT scan
and found that i also have a condition called situs inversus,
basically this means that my organs are mirror image to a normal
person and i was also found to have my main artery missing. Therefore
i was told i was unable to have an operation on my affected leg.

I have been on warfarin for 6 months, i had to stop taking it last
saturday (10/09/11) for a period of two weeks and then have another
blood test to check if i still need to be taking the warfarin.

Over the last few days, both of my legs have felt very weak and tired
and sometimes very painful and my foot has become very swollen again.
Also the other night my left leg, just above the knee was very hot and
i have just discovered a vein which is very hard and painful to touch
in... read more

Hi, I have had multi pal DVT's in both my legs over the past 10years. At the moment I am experiencing a pain in my lower right arm. At first it felt like I had pulled a muscle but now I have this burning sensation that shoots whenever I walk with my arms at my side (between my wrist and elbow) if I keep my arm bent the pain is minimal but still present. My arm is swollen. Do u think it could be another dvt?

Hi,
My partner and I are going on a (well deserved) break to a hotel with a spa bath
in our room. I would like to know if it is safe for me to use this having been
diagnosed with a dvt in my groin 2 months ago. I'm on warfarin and in generally
good health though still suffering from a lot of aches and pains in my leg and
would love a relaxing bubbly bath if possible, but am obviously keen to keep
any risks to a minimum!
