One new option for people who have been diagnosed with a blood clot is Thrombolysis which uses medicines and devices to remove the blood clot. While not risk free, and not offered universally, the following doctors and institutions do offer this. If you think you may be interested, it is important to act quickly. Blood clots harden within the first several weeks, making it much more difficult to remove the clot. This procedure has risks and you should discuss with your doctors the tradeoffs for your particular situation.

Low White Blood Cell count on Warfarin

Started August 15, 2009
Hi everyone, I recently had a Complete Blood count taken and it showed my white blood cell count had dropped to a bit below the normal range since I started on Warfarin. All other counts in the test came back ok.

Has anyone else noticed that their white blood cell count decreased whilst on Warfarin?

Thank you.

I was diagnosed w/ DVT in October/08 after Orth. knee surgery. I've been through the regimen of Lovenox and now warfarin with blood draws every two weeks. I've had my last ultrasound 1/21 which showed the clot still present. I go back again in a week, but by judging the discomfort in my calf, I would have to guess there still present. Anyone care to share how long it took them to rid themselves of this horrible problem or any suggestions that may be helpful. I'm begining to get frustrated. I've been out of work for nearly five months & about to run out of STD checks

Hi there,
I was diagnosed with DVT & PE after giving birth 8mths ago. I have/had DVT in
my leg and a complete blockage in my right lilac vein. A recent ultrasound
showed the complete block and some clot in leg still exisiting. My specialist said
the clot solidified in to scar tissue? And my body has directed the blood (because
I have no pain or swelling).

Can someone explain this to me, they want me to stop taking Warfarin. I'm
concern as I don't understand if its correct that just because its been 8months it's
a sure thing it's now scare tissue? And the bits in my legs that are still there, the

ScienceDaily (May 8, 2012) — A compound called rutin, commonly found in fruits
and vegetables and sold over the counter as a dietary supplement, has been
shown to inhibit the formation of blood clots in an animal model of thrombosis.

These new findings, led by investigators at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
(BIDMC) and published in online in The Journal of Clinical Investigation (JCI),
identify a novel strategy for preventing thrombosis, and help pave the way for
clinical testing of this popular flavonoid as a therapy for the prevention and
treatment of stroke and heart attack, as well as deep venous thrombosis (DVT)
and pulmonary embolism.

ACL Injury Causes Clot

I am 17 years old and I got a blood clot after I tore my ACL playing basketball. The clot that ranges from my calf to my groin has put my surgery on hold for 4 months. I am still waiting to get another ultra sound to see if the clot is still there, however, I still feel pain from time to time in my thigh. Has anyone else had this similar occurrence after a serious injury? Also, is the pain I am feeling due to the blood clot? This whole series of events has really been a downer on my life and I have lost a whole year of my life due to this. I cannot do the one thing I love which is playing basketball. :(
Has anyone else had a similar experience or any words that can help me cope with this?

Do Wayfarin and Lovenox cause anxiety/depressi

Hi, I am just wondering if Wayfarin and/or Lovenox could be causing
anxiety and depression. I had a big drop when they cut my Lovenox
injections cold turkey. You would think I would be happy! But I just
haven't felt right while taking these blood thinners. I'm not sure if
it's the fear of what could have been with my DVT or if these
medications actually mess with your moods. What do you think?

Possible DVT?

I have been having health problems that doctors currently have been unable to diagnose. I suspect that it has something to do with thrombosis. I get cramps and palpitations in my lower legs, even in my feet. Pains in my calf and the back of my knees and sometimes in the lower hamstring. When the sensations are most prominent, and I feel my worst, I feel a strong rushing, as though blood squeezing through the veins in my legs. When I try to stretch them out by bending over and touching my toes my lower legs almost feel like they are vibrating! Rather strange. And my calves - especially the calves - and hamstring are uncharacteristically tight. Does this sound like DVT?

i am 3 weeks post DVT and although my INR was once 2.5 it is now 1.5 or 1.7.my GP does not sem worried-she says my blood is still thinner than a 'normal' person, which is 1.i know a too high INR has the risk of bleeding, but are there risks with it too low, other than another clot might form?im really asking if i should worry or if it stays like this for the 6 months i am on warfarin, will it be ok?

For those of you that had a DVT of one leg. Did you experience leg discoloration (brownish spotting) on the leg affected by the DVT? Also did the “good”leg, the one without the DVT also develop brownish spotting?

I had a DVT two years ago in my right leg from my groin to the back of the knee. Sure enough this leg developed brownish spotting. In the last several months my “good” leg, the one without the DVT started developing the brownish spotting as well. The Dr. performed an ultra sound on this leg and did not find any DVT/blood clots. I have been on coumadin for two years and maintain an INR between 2.5 – 3.0. I also have factor V

Hey everyone... I am 23 years old and last Easter I was diagnosed with a massive
dvt from my ankle to my groin. The next day I went to the ER and was told that I
had 2 PEs. I am currently in the army and am constantly getting the run around by
the doctors. I have been seeing a PA and they don't really know if I should
workout or not. My INR levels finally hit the therapeutic range (2.6) this week. I'm
still trying to get a referral to see a specialist but am having difficulty since I'm
dealing with military health care. I just want to know if I can start working out and
what my limitations/restrictions are since I can't seem to get any answers?

SMVT & PVT with Appendicitis

My husband, aged 27, had severe abdominal pain 8 weeks ago. I
took him to the ER where they found appendicitis and superior
mesenteric venous thrombosis (SMVT). They put him on heparin,
took out his appendix and kept him for a few days. They released
him on Coumadin. 10 days later we were back in the ER. CT scan
showed the clot got worse. They put him on Lovenox. All was well
for 4 weeks when he had severe and worsening pain again in the
upper abdomen and under right rib cage. A CT scan showed new
clots in his right and left portal veins (PVT). I am told he
should not have made new clots while on Lovenox. He is negative
for all genetic testing and every other test they ran. He is
otherwise healthy. They say his organs look fine right now and
they put him on Arixtra. After he was able to go without the IV
pain killers, they sent us home. This is where we are with no
answers and a lot of pain. The pain is subsiding but the

Please respond if you can, my daughter is only 11, and was diagnosed on Aug.24th with dvt in femoral vein, all genetic tests came back negative and we did not know why this would happen at such a young age. i had a protein S deficiency but only when I was pregnant and was on lovenoux. She has been on lovenoux, but the leg has stayed approx. i inch bigger than the normal one. They did a repeat ultrasound today and discovered she has a duplicate femoral vein, and Dr. says when you are born with two(he says 1 in 100 are) the extra vein has limited blood flow and at risk of developing a clot, he says it has to eventually clot and die off, and sometimes the clot never fully goes away, it just remains, she has complete flow in the other femoral vein, so thats good, I just wonder if her leg will always be an inch bigger than the other one, if that is the worst of it, I'm okay. he took her off lovenoux after 2 months, because he feels these type of clots are not dangerous and might remain, ... read more

said I had a blood disorder and also being pregnant it was messing with my blood
They all advised me that I should terminate my pregnancy as I wouldn't survive to
the end and see my baby being born .
So I had to undergo everything I'm against and make the hardest decision I would

I had a DVT a few years ago and now have PTS. I get swelling and pain and have varicose veins in the affected leg. Im 26 years old and really scared about the future. Just lately the pain seems worse and I cant think about anything else. Im so glad to be able to read everyone elses experiences so I dont feel so alone. Just lately I feel so depressed with it all and keep crying. I am so worried about having children. Im meant to be planning my wedding but have no interest in it. Im not going to do anything but i keep having thoughts about ending my life and cant see how il cope with this pain the rest of my life.

Before all this I was active and happy. Now I dont really go out and dont want to see anyone. My fiance says its affecting our relationship but is supportive. I try not to show to others how im feeling as I dont want my leg to define who I am.

What can I do?

Have persons seen improvements in months and taken off warfarin? Also is non impact exercise (ellipitcal sp?)ok for clot. Thanks for any info you can provide.
