One new option for people who have been diagnosed with a blood clot is Thrombolysis which uses medicines and devices to remove the blood clot. While not risk free, and not offered universally, the following doctors and institutions do offer this. If you think you may be interested, it is important to act quickly. Blood clots harden within the first several weeks, making it much more difficult to remove the clot. This procedure has risks and you should discuss with your doctors the tradeoffs for your particular situation.

I WAS 30 WHEN I HAD A PUMONARY EMBOLISM THAT CHANGED MY LIFE, THAT WAS IN OCT OF 2001 AND I WILL ALWAYS SUFFER FROM THE EFFECTS OF THAT PULMONARY EMBOLISM. AFTER WEEKS OF PROCEEDURES (41/2 TO BE SPOT ON) I WAS SHOCKED TO HEAR THAT MY OUTCOME WAS GLOOM AND DOOM. MY GENETIC DIAGNOSIS IS A RARE FORM OF MAY THURNER PLUS FACTOR V LEIDEN, AND CHRONIC, ONSET DVT, ALL OF WHICH EQUATES TO TWO VALVES IN MY ILLIAC ARTERY BEING BLOWN OUT, AND EVEN WITH STENT THREAPY FROM MY NECK TO MY RIGHT ANKLE A GREENFEILD (SLANG TERM) TINY MICROSCOPIC BADMITTEN. TUBAL LIGATION, DEPRESSION, NUCULAR MEDICINE STUDIES, GUNNEY PIG PRODING AT THE RADIOLOGY DEPT, YOU NAME IT I HAVE PROBABLY HAD IT OFFERED TO ME. MT ONLY HOPE IS A VALVE REPLACEMENT OR MAY I WISH AN ARTERY BYPASS OF THE ILLIAC ARTERY. SO MY CORSE OF THERAPY IS COUMADIN, SOMETIMES HEPERIN WICH I HAVE TO INJECT MYSELF (DONíT RUB) PLUS I SPEND ABOUT 60% OF THE DAY IN BED WITH MY LEG UBOVE MY HEART. THIS IS CRAZY. INR testing and time of day

Has anyone experienced different results in their INR for different times of the day. For the last 3 weeks I have been every tuesday and Friday to have my INR checked because it jumps around so much. I go tuesday afternoon after work and it seems to be low (between 1.5 and 2.7) and I go on friday morning before work and it seems to be high (3.5-9.1 one time). I take my dosage of warfarin (10 mg currently) every night at 9:00 pm. My DR told me that warfarin is always a couple of days behind. So when you take it today it doesn't actualy effect your INR for a couple of days. I thought at first that because it was low on tuesday and they increased my dose that this is why it was high on Friday so I mentioned that to my DR so last week he left my dose at 10 mg after it was 3.4 on tuesday and then it was 1.9 on Friday. I stayed on 10 mg over the weekend and on tuesday it was back to 3.7.

Hi, I am 24 and over the past few days have started to experience discomfort in my right leg. This started with relatively mild aching above my ankle and side of my lower leg. The discomfort comes and goes but over the past couple days i have been experiencing more pain (again, pretty mild pain...perhaps discomfort is a better word, but definitely present and particularly noticeable at night). I feel discomfort in the back of my calf and sometimes behind and above my knee . it feels like it might if somebody was pressing/twisting a dull object into my calf. I also have often been experiencing a number of strange sensations in much of my lower leg that feel like quick pulses, tingling or the occasional mild throb. There is no redness or swelling. I went for a blood test(d-dimer) but haven't heard the results yet...my appointment was monday afternoon. I am not sure when i should expect the results but I am thinking i will call the office tomorrow. I am just curious if anyone experien... read more

I had a doppler on Friday and they said no clot. It took 30 hrs for the swelling in my leg to go down. I had to stay in bed for that to happen. I have been having chest pain and have been light headed on and off. As soon as I got on my feet today my right foot swelled again. If I had a clot in my right leg and it moved into my lung would it be on the right lung or the left lung? Because I am having pain in my left lung. I am really starting to get nervous what should I do?

Long Road Trip

In 2002 we took a long road trip to visit relatives. We spent a total of about 18 hours driving round trip. I developed a DVT two weeks after coming home from the trip.
We are going to a wedding this coming weekend and will driving the same amount of time as the trip in 2002.
I will be wearing thigh high compression stockings. I know that I have to stop and get out of the car every so often but I am extremly anxious to be taking this trip again.
Is there anything else I can do to lessen the risk of getting another DVT?
Thanks.

Hello,
I am 20, taking birth control pills, and generally in pretty good health (weight/exercise-wise).
Yesterday I noticed that the back of my lower calf was a bit sore, but only when I touched it (like a bruise). It didn't really give me any pain to walk or anything. I can't really see a visible bruise though. It is not hot that I notice, and doesn't feel any different than my other calf.
I have problems with hypochondria so any time i get leg pain i get worried. Today I was driving and rubbed my leg at a traffic light, and it sort of felt a lot less sore all of a sudden. At that point I got a bit of a brief cramp a bit higher in my leg. I freaked out because I thought that maybe if it was a DVT it was moving or something. Now the calf is still a bit sore to the touch but seems less so than before.
I have been running recently when I haven't done so in a while, and I slept on someone's hard floor on Thursday night which I guess could have bruised me a bit.
I am taking 3... read more

Has anyone just suffered a PE without a DVT?

Hi,
I have been on warrfaring for nearly 7 years and having read a lot of the informative posts here, I have noticed that most people suffer a DVT/PE.

I have never suffered from a DVT but have had 3 PE's. Is this uncommon or are there other people the same?

I look forward to your replies

Suzy

Will DVD be inheriting HD DVD's web features?

As the primary backer of HD DVD, Toshiba spent a lot of money developing technology that they didn't get a lot of use out of. Some features from HD DVD players, like upscaling, fit nicely into standard DVD players. Others, like web-enabled content, aren't quite as applicable. Sure you could put the same capabilities into a DVD player, but with no official standard you'd be hard pressed to get anyone to take advantage of it.

The said that I do not have a clot. The doc still has to review the test. I would like to know what the issue is then. I could barely stand them rubbing my leg with the sonogram. I have had my foot wrapped tight and the swelling will not go down. I am so confused as to what is wrong with my leg. Any suggestions?

Please help me...

I had a total(L)knee replacement on March 4th. I thought I was well on my way to recovery and out of the danger zone for developing a DVT following surgery. However, 6 weeks ago I developed pain in my left ankle and immediately thought of DVT. I called the doctor and after several test were performed I was diagnosed with (DVT) blood clot behind my left knee, which broke away and traveled to my right lung (PE).By the grace of GOD the artery was not totally blocked. I stayed in the hospital 2 days and received Lovinox shots and Coumadin (I hope I spelled that right). I am currently on Coumadin 5mg for approx. 9 months according to the doctor. I am a very active person (52 years young) I attend college and work I love to travel and go to the gym and work out. I am having a lot of pain in the affected leg and some sharp pains in my chest, back and other areas of my body. Are these symptoms of the DVT? what is actually going on in my body? Are these signs for me to ... read more

I have a possible clot and I am going today for the sonogram test. My leg is just sore on the inside from calf to mid thigh. Just my ankle is swollen. You cant tell I have a ankle bone anymore and being off it for 12 hours did not make a difference. He thinks it could be a bad vein also. I think I am freaking myself out though I swear I keep getting pains in my chest. They are sharp but go away really quickly. I have two blood clotting disorders so I am concerned! DOES THIS SOUND LIKE A CLOT? Help!

as i mensioned earlier my partner was on warfarin till 5th aug 2008, he also has bad circulation in legs, one leg is nearly black. but keep being told nothing can be done till it gets worse, which is worrying.
when he was on warfarin his inr was 2.6 most weeks, so had to visit blood clin every 4 weeks for blood test.(inr)
a few times it went up to 3.3. if he ate anything spicy.
what kept his reading level was him having a tot of whiskey every night, was told by specalist a tot every night keeps blood level. instead of going mad at weekends and drinking
loads.
while he was on warfarin his feet swollen up and had bloches over them. and leg puffed up as well.
so now got to wait if swelling gos down after comming of warfarin. might have to have water tablets.
