One new option for people who have been diagnosed with a blood clot is Thrombolysis which uses medicines and devices to remove the blood clot. While not risk free, and not offered universally, the following doctors and institutions do offer this. If you think you may be interested, it is important to act quickly. Blood clots harden within the first several weeks, making it much more difficult to remove the clot. This procedure has risks and you should discuss with your doctors the tradeoffs for your particular situation.

Compression stocking won't stay in the proper

Hello everyone. So I have been diagnosed with a dvt in nearly my entire left leg.
So I'm doing the standard treatment, warfarin + compression stocking. So I've
been through two types of thigh high stockings so far, the most basic regular
banded stockings, and also the silicon ribbed one (both of the jobst brand).
Seems after about a week of wearing them they simply stretch out too much, and
begin to perpetually slink down to my knee and sometimes my entire leg. The
orthotist I went to said I should also consider purchasing a garter to keep them
up. Now Im aware that this is no time to be macho but, I just feel like there HAS to
be another way to keep them in place and fitting properly. Anyone have
suggestions? Should I try a different brand? (Jobst claims to make the best
product but I'm not convinced).

If anyone here has had a Jugular DVT, do you feel like you are always choking? If so, how long does it feel that way? I went to the hospital with a PE and while I was there I kept telling them my neck hurt. After a spiral CT they found a clot in my Jugular vein and in my Sub-Clavian vein. My arm swells and turns blue when I push my self in my wheelchair. Please post any answers you may have. Thanks.

I was just wondering if anyone else had numbness in their calf after having a DVT? With my PCD, I have found (4 months after it happened) that part of my calf is still completely numb, as well as my large toe on the left food. Is this common? I find it hugely irritating, and it just seems another cross to bear with this whole problem. As if having a massive left leg, and a limp, was not enough!!!

Hello, I am a product design student currently studying at the
University of Huddersfield gathering research for my final year major
project. The goal of this survey is to get a better insight and
understanding into people who have used compression socks /
stockings. All the answers you provide will be kept in the strictest
confidentiality. It would be very helpful if you could take a few
minutes to complete it. Thank You.

Cycling and post DVT?

I am 58yrs and had DVT and PE (Pulmonary Embolism, if I have spelt it right) in 2003. It has left me with pains in the leg which my GP says is a result of damage to veins from the DVT. Pain killers and surgical stockings are his only treatment, though I have been on warfrin, and had stomach injections when in hospital with it.
Many years ago I used to cycle, more just used it for transport than sport, though would go several miles when time allowed. I was thinking of taking up cycling again as I thought the exercise might help my legs, but don't want to make things worse! Anyone here have experience of cycling after DVT? I was just thinking of a short distance at first and gradually increasing the distance.
Thanks for any replies.

Does anyone get very HOT feelings, like someone is holding a lit match to your leg (or
wherever you clot may be, mine is in my left thigh)?? I periodically during the day get very
hot flashes of heat in my thigh area, usually on the backside and I don't know why or if it is
something to be worried about. I have a DVT and am currently taking Rivaroxaban

hi I'm new to this and don't know if I'll get answers to this but I am a 17 year old
male and I've been having left leg pain since this past Friday, so about 4 or 5
days. I google things and freak myself out a lot and this is really scaring me, it's
like an achy pain but sometimes feels sharp and it's mostly in my thigh in the
back and my calf, no swelling or redness or warmth, just pain and a discomfort. I
have shortness of Breath as well but idk if that's contributed to anxiety or not. I
am not overweight and I do have an irregular heartbeat so I don't exercise much
but i do sit around a lot but normally get up every few hours, no long flights or
car rides recently it just suddenly started hurting , would really like advice or a
way to self diagnose this, bc constantly asking my parents has irritated them bc
they think it's a pulled muscle , hurts when resting or when walking as well

Pain/ache in calf

I'm a mountain biker and I had a small crash about 2 weeks ago. Bruise on the inside of calf area and swelling on shin. Swelling on the shin was weird. I could push on it and the impression would hold for about 30 seconds like memory foam. Anyway, about 3 days ago my calf started hurting and when I would stiffen up from yawning/stretching in bed my whole calf and lower leg would really ache. Now there is a spot on the my lower calf that is really tender to the touch and my lower leg aches. No swelling, heat or redness. I've had plenty of pulled/trained muscles but this feels different. I'm 44 very active no history of clots.

This is an exciting experience. There is so much insight on OptiMind
available. I'm dumbfounded that I can't oust that hypothesis. I'll
spell out why as long as there are also different types of OptiMind.
We'll start the conversations over OptiMind. We'll see if mere
mortals do it differently this time with OptiMind but it is how to
take OptiMind with you. Let's give the devil his due. This ought to
help you have long term success.

- 12 hour car trip yesterday
- 1 break every three hours--- one 2 hour break at the half way point
- wore compression socks used for runners
- did little feet movements and exercises every 30min-1 hr

-didn't drink too much water, had one cup of coffee and burger (nasty but only
thing available)

-25 year old female- no history of clots
-not on birth control or hormones

I just noticed a small raised section on the back of my calf, it's a little red or

I had thigh pain a while back that I ended up going to get checked out. Doppler
and d dimer were negative. I don't want to spend the money to get checked out

What would this community recommend? Do you think that, given my efforts I am
fairly low risk?

ended up wiht a DVT and now in workers comp. Workers Comp. cares
little about people and they hate to spend money on them. So the
latest thing is a W.C. doctor stopped the warfain and told me I
should take tylenol as the replacement. I have had 3 DVTs since I

Briefly stopping Coumadin?

I have to have 2 procedures done that require me to discontinue my
Coumadin (which I've been on since Oct 2012 when I had my 2nd DVT)
for a week prior. Since they're scheduled for 2.5 weeks apart, my
vasc surgeon has elected to keep me off the Coumadin for that
entire time which means my total time off the medicine will be ~ 3
weeks. I also have two 8 hour car trips during that time (my vasc
doctor is aware of this). I had assumed (hoped) he'd put me on
Lovenox to bridge the gap, but he says I should be fine.

Has anyone else who has been on Coumadin long-term stopped taking
it for weeks at a time? Did everything go okay? I intend to wear
my compression hose, but other than that I don't know of any other
preventative measures I can take.

Catheter Thrombolysis

Tuesday I had cather directed thrombolyss, anjojet for DVT from Iliac to knee,
which occured less than two weeks go when I thought I had pulled a groin muscle
and had heart attack symtpoms. Turned out DVT and PE. Drs at hospital put me
on blood thinners and sent me home after a few days of observation. My
husband called University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center for a more
aggressive treatment. I was told three days, but Radiologist managed to get the
job done in one, the anjojet and a stent as I May Thurner Syndrome. Apparently,
my doctor was happy with the results. I do have some scar tissue in the iliac
suggesting I was experiencing DVT for some time before the PE. I should add, I
had broken my tibial plateau four weeks prior to the DVT, trying to hop around on
crutches on artificial hip was difficult so probably too much inactivity is thought
to be the cause of the DVT. I am trying to get used to giving myself lovenex
shots, I'm terrified of nee... read more

On Monday night I noticed I had a swollen place above my clavicle that had two
knots in it. I didn't think much about it, as it was just a little sore. By Tuesday
morning, the swelling had spread up my neck, and my Tuesday evening it had
spread to under neither my arm (note: all of the swelling was on my right side).
The only pain was a strange tingling-asleep sensation. I have felt something
similar to it before in my legs over the past few years, but my legs didn't swell
and it was much more painful in my legs. Later Tuesday night the swelling moved
down my right arm. It puffed up and turned a blotchy red purple color. I lost some
of the feeling in my fingers and my arm had a gross spongy consistency. Also, I
could feel that strange tingling traveling as the swelling moved. I went to the
doctor Tuesday morning who sent me to the hospital for an ultrasound and an X-
ray, mentioning something about a blood clot. By the time Wednesday had come
around, just of t... read more

Only having side effects stopping Warfarin

I was wondering if anybody has this experience. I'm 28, I went on
Warfarin 6 months ago after having a DVT and had some side effects to
begin with, mainly light headed and lack of energy... But then my body
seemed to adjust and I was completely fine on the drug, I was doing as
much exercise as I normally do, drinking, I was completely fine. I was
on a fairly large dose of 10mg-12mg also.

However, when I stopped 10 days ago I've had some fairly horrible side
effects, tingly limbs, light headed, no energy, foggy head, tight
chest, shortness of breath, heart palpitations and racing heart along
with vertigo when I go to bed... On sunday(7days after coming off the
drug) I had a horrible experience where I thought I was having a heart
attack and almost collapsed in the street. I've been to the hospital
and everything checked out fine so that's good but yeah, it was a
horrible experience and although it was probably a panic attack I'm
sure the physi... read more
