One new option for people who have been diagnosed with a blood clot is Thrombolysis which uses medicines and devices to remove the blood clot. While not risk free, and not offered universally, the following doctors and institutions do offer this. If you think you may be interested, it is important to act quickly. Blood clots harden within the first several weeks, making it much more difficult to remove the clot. This procedure has risks and you should discuss with your doctors the tradeoffs for your particular situation.

So a few weeks ago I started having significant calf pain and went to the ER and
had an ultrasound and Ddimer which both were negative. Pain persisted and I had
another ultrasound later that week which said phlebitis and a negative ddimer.
Now about two weeks since the ultrasounds the pain has persisted. I had another
ddimer actually last week which was still negative. Last week I also went to a
physic therapist for it because my GP said he doesn't even see a chance for
phlebitis and that it's my anxiety and an injury I had about 3 or 4 months ago.
Well the next morning after physical therapy the pain really was bothering me on
the back of my knee but has since subsided but now the pain is to my groin and
actually lower left abdomen. Worried something may have been missed or the
clot has moved.

Hi guys I have eventually been diagnosed with this I knew I had this clot but it
was initially missed by A& E . So I am currently on daily injections as I am not
sure I am not pregnant. If not it's then over to Warfrin, although they have said
tips I wish to continue TTC then I can stay on the injection, which in the UK is
Enoxoporin. They are not trying to find our what caused it p, waiting on blood
tests. However I have a feeling it's the Thorasic syndrome, or Pagetts. Although
they would not listen to me and initiall ultra sound of my arm did not show the
clot, and after repeated trips to the A & E and a letter of my GP requesting a CT
and a very determined consultant radiologist (who would not let me leave
heritable until she had an answer) she found the clot, I mean I am a bit angry in
was the signs were all there. I think I had confused then a bit as I have had a
tightness in my arm for weeks with intermittent swelling of my hand. Which

Many questions--Few answers--Rapid Lysis??

I had a DVT in July last year and I am 32 yrs old. I was unable to walk more than 10 feet without severe pain and shortness of breath. My leg was swollen for months following the DVT and I still experience pain and some swelling today. It wasn't until recently that I have begun to research procedures and other details regarding DVT. From reading the forum it appears that many people have similar symptoms, but doctors have used various methods to treat this condition. And also they do recommend many differing activities to patients after they begin taking coumadin.

I have a few questions I was hoping someone could help me with.

Is rapid lysis practiced often, has anyone had it done? I read about a healthy 19 year old who had it done with success.
Are stents considered for DVT patients?
Venoplasty, or vein grafts? (Any help?, I read of a women on this forum whose doctor recommended it if her swelling returns)
Does weight training or extensive exercise put someo... read more

I'm interested how many have been declared permanently disabled as result of your DVT/PTS?

In other words, you're collecting SSDI and not working due to the ongoing complications, pain and risks associated with your DVT.

Thanks.

A few questions for those here who have had a PE:

1) Did you have any warning signs of it coming days/weeks earlier?
2) How did your symptoms manifest?
3) Was your PE a large or small one?

Thigh Pain and DVT

A week ago I was in the ER and diagnosed with DVT from groin to knee in right leg. I had swelling in calf and soreness. They gave me Lovenex and Coumadin and sent me home with a week's supply of those meds. They seemed to make the assumption that I have no PE and no heparin was administered. Now, in the last day or so, my calf has loosened up and is not sore. But my thigh has fairly sharp pain that ranges from my kneecap up to my groin. If I lie down and put heat or ice on it, the pain subsides for the most part. But being on my feet for much over a minute is quite painful. I'm assuming that this pain is directly related to my DVT. I'm not sure what to do about it. Is something like others have experienced? Is this a passing thing that might subside quite a bit in a few days?

Thank you all for the interesting letters and the questions - I wish there were answers for we all suffer in different ways after clots. Luckily we can read and try to help through our experience. I sprained my ancle in April 2013 and my right feet was heave swolen and turned into all the colours, then it vaded away. After a month I had a PE in my lung. I fainted when I had the PE I don't know how long I was out for I was alone. When my family found me lying on the ground I was too weak I couldn't walk, it could be a few minutes. The doctors thought I had a heart attack or a stroke but the ECG shows nothing. He asked me if I didn't have an accident and then I remember about the straining of my feet. They took a lung scan and found out about the PE. (Everyone must remember an accident!). He told me, don't know if it is true, having a clot is better to cure than a heartattack or stroke. In January this year a cardiologist/ specialist physician in Pretoria done a pulmonary angiogra... read more

Are relapses normal ?

Hi All. Back in August, I had clots in leg, each Lung and saddle area. ICU and
then hospital room for a few days. Discovered I have the factor 2 gene. I take
xeralto once a day now. Things seemed that they were getting better. Then today,
I have had some breathing issues again. It seems when I sit at my home office
desk chair for extended periods, it is almost like the chair cuts off the circulation?
Legs feel like circulation bothers me and my breathing gets a little labored. I
thought I was doing better! Is it normal to still have breathing issues? I also get
physically tired more easy since my episode. A little nervous on the relapse type
feeling today. Anyone else had this happen after you thought you were much
better? Going back first week of December for another cat scan to see if cleared
up in chest area.

Help in education for my Daughter

My Daughter just turned 17. Last week her leg swelled up and she was transported to a better hospital. Diagnosed with DVT, she was immediately sent into surgery as the doctor said it was life threatening. her clotting started at the knee and continued up to the bottom of her rib cage. She had 4 procedures to clear out the clotting. On Friday her 3rd procedure results were clearing of all clotting except for a 65% blockage in the groin area. They went back in Monday to work on that some more and found that that clotting that had been previously removed was back. They were able to clear out the groin area more on that 4th procedure, however after ultrasound 2 days later, they had found the clotting returned to all the previously stated locations. They won't be going back in again. The plan is low molecular weight Heparin twice a day (100MG) and physical therapy. We are currently still in the hospital. She has a genetic protein deficiency. I've been attempting to get her to ... read more
