One new option for people who have been diagnosed with a blood clot is Thrombolysis which uses medicines and devices to remove the blood clot. While not risk free, and not offered universally, the following doctors and institutions do offer this. If you think you may be interested, it is important to act quickly. Blood clots harden within the first several weeks, making it much more difficult to remove the clot. This procedure has risks and you should discuss with your doctors the tradeoffs for your particular situation.

Have searched for a Multi Vitamin without Vitamin K in it, and found Clotamin. Does anybody have any information about Clotamin?

Scan Results DVT Still There

I had my scan today 4 months after discovering an unprovoked clot from above my knee to just below my groin. Disappoined! The clot is still there even though I have no symptoms, the swelling went away within two weeks of starting Coumadin so I thought the clot must have dissolved. Wrong! I am really peed off. Does anyone else have a similar story? will the clot ever go away or am I on Coumadin for life?

I heard this is real good for DVT and Venous insufficiency...actually rebuilds the valves and makes them stronger.

Dr. OZ highlighted this on his show.

I was just on the EKOS site and saw that the ACCESS PTS study is now enrolling
patients. This is the study that looks at the removal of chronic clots using EKOS.
EKOS's website says that patients interested in participating in the study can
contact them at ekosclinical@ekoscorp.com

The ACCESS PTS study is a prospective, single-arm, multi-center trial, designed
to evaluate the safety and efficacy of ultrasound accelerated thrombolysis using
the EkoSonic® Endovascular System with standard infusion of a thrombolytic
drug for PTS and chronic venous occlusions. The study will enroll up to 200
subjects over a period of 12 months at approximately 30 study sites across the
United States. Subjects will receive clinical follow-up for 12 months.

Clinical effectiveness will be evaluated using the Villalta score (measurement of
the severity of PTS) at baseline compared to 30 days post-EkoSonic® treatment.
Success will be defined by 50% or more of the subjects achievi... read more

Muscle atrophy and DVT

I've had a right leg DVT for about 6 wks now. I was hospitlized and put on Xarelto. My clots are primarily in superficial femoral vein and the popliteal vein. I started noticing a great deal of leg weakness. My right leg, usually my dominant leg, just above the knee shows considerable muscle shrinkage (for lack of better term). I also have discomfort in the inside of the knee and extending up the thigh, although it is better than before. Do others experience these symptoms, especially the muscle atrophy? Also, I'm concerned about long term. I wish I could just get the damn clots removed via EKOS ultra sound or some similar procedure, but the medical community seems to think that having blood clots is perfectly okay. Just feed the patient some anticoagulants and send him or her on his merry, or not so merry, way. I want to return to former levels of health.

could this be dvt? (in India traveling)

I have had a small bruise just at my inner/back right knee (right where the leg bends) for about a week. It is painful to the touch, but I can do all of my normal activities (walking, riding bike, yoga, etc). It is slightly blue and may be getting bluer. The pain has not changed at all since I first noticed it one week ago (which is weird - a bruise usually heals quickly). However, no swelling. Given the location of the bruise, I was worried it might have something to do with a vein, and then google led me to dvt.

What do you think? Do you think I should be worried? Any recommendations.

Since I'm in India, I'm a bit more freaked out that I would be otherwise.

If it's helpful: 3 weeks ago, I was on a 27 hour flight itinerary (to India), and 10 days ago I sat in a bus for about 12 hours (with two breaks). I walk or bike about 1-2 miles/day and have since the travel.

Thank you so much for your help!!!

Is this DVT?

I'm 16 so I know it's unlikely to be DVT, however for about a year now
I have had pain mainly in my left leg (although sometimes in my right)
which comes and goes, when I have it it lasts for a good 10 hours at
least, but then it might not hurt for weeks. The pain is hard to
describe but it's a real ache, and the area on my calf is tender too.
Also I don't know if this is relevant but on my upper inner left thigh
there are some red/purple veins that you can see and stick out a
little. I have a doctor's appointment scheduled for in two days
because I'm starting to get quite worried about it. Also I don't know
if this is relevant but I sometimes get an extreme pain in my chest,
which the doctor didn't diagnose, they just said it should go away, it
doesn't happen very often and doesn't last long. I'm also not very
active as I have had two operations on my wrist in the last 18 months,
and I'm very busy, but have just started getting back into exercise.

Can ultrasound be "false" normal?

Does anyone have an experience similar to this:
I flew to Rome and had pain in calf after two days. Pain was aggravated by walking, which I did anyway. After 4 days of pain, swelling and edema, I went to Spirito Santo hospital. Blood test revealed elevated D dimer, but since I was leaving for home the next day, I was told to just take aspirin and see my doctor in the U.S. D dimer was 900 (above normal, but not sky high?)

I saw my doctor yesterday. She was concerned due to the pain, swelling, edema and elevated D dimer. I went immediately to have an ultrasound of the calf. The technician only examined the opposite side of my lower leg from where my pain is, but she said that is where they do it. The ultrasound was normal.

So, should I still be worried about DVT or PE? My symptoms are all still the same. My doctor was supposed to call me yesterday to follow up, but I never heard from her. She is out of the office today.

I feel like a ticking time bomb. My husband is not spea... read more

resolution to this??? Will going private get me any more answers ??? Please
does anyone have any answers for me???? Thanks

Fluctuating INR

Hi all. I am looking for some input on regulating Coumadin. After a number of shoulder surgeries (13), including 3 botched joint replacements, I developed a large DVT from the subclavian vein, extending into the brachial, axillary, and basilic veins with 100% occlusion. It developed over a long period of time and I fortunately developed significant collateral circulation. Following 2 angioplasty surgeries in 2 days, I was weaned off of heparin and on to Coumadin.

Following my discharge from the hospital, my general practitioner was tasked with regulating my Coumadin level. My dose had not been regulated, yet he only wanted to check my INR every 6 weeks or so. I objected, and got him to test weekly. In the past 3 months I have only been in the target range with my INR one time. The doctor keeps changing my dose from 2.5 to 7.5, and everything in between. Last week I became very ill feeling, and found my INR to be over 6.0. The previous week it was 1.3. The wild fluctuat... read more
