DVT deep vein thrombosis forum

One new option for people who have been diagnosed with a blood clot is Thrombolysis which uses medicines and devices to remove the blood clot. While not risk free, and not offered universally, the following doctors and institutions do offer this. If you think you may be interested, it is important to act quickly. Blood clots harden within the first several weeks, making it much more difficult to remove the clot. This procedure has risks and you should discuss with your doctors the tradeoffs for your particular situation.

8 Months after DVT and new pain

I had a DVT 8 months ago, which is now chronic. My doctor said to stop Coumadin (which I did about 6 weeks ago). I now take an aspirin every day. This week I have noticed a familiar pain/ache in my DVT leg which eases when I have my stocking on. My leg is not red or swollen more than usual. I did do a lot of walking last week. I try to remember if I had these aches before, but every little thing makes me wonder. Do you think this is normal? I know I should expect some pain/discomfort, but I'm just not sure. Thank you.

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help. I have struggled to find much information
and the doctors and midwives etc seem to be a bit confused by my
situation too.

I am 36 weeks pregnant and had a DVT in my groin confirmed this week
just gone. I'm in a lot of pain and am struggling to walk and to even
move from the sofa or in bed. With only a couple of weeks to go before
I'm due to give birth, this has completely thrown me off track as
there is still plenty to do, but I can't do anything!

I'm on clexane injections, and am having to take 2 paracetamol's and a
codine every 4 hours just to take the edge of the pain, but I don't
think this is something I should be doing every 4 hours for the next 4
weeks. Especially only a small about of codine is ok for the baby.

No one seems very clear as to what my birth will be like and whether
or not I can or can't be induced or whether or not I can have a C-
section. My initial birth plan was a home birth with no pain kill... read more

post arthroscopic surgery I developed a clot in the calf. Also a staph infection in the knee. I am post antibiotics for the infection and am dealing with knee inflamation and pain. I take 7.5 mg. of cumadin daily and my INR is usually 1.0. My doctor does not want to increase the dose. Am I ok. I am becoming more active and exercise with weights daily and walking.
Also can one fly on cumadin safely?

I know this is a really silly question but with the clocks going back this weekend do you still take the warfarin at 6 oclock as i usually do, or does it make a difference if it was taken 5 oclock. Think ive got that the right way around.

I have posted on this forum several times and really gone out of my
way to help individuals. However, I am not going to post anymore
because it seems no one really wants to discuss their condition, and
they just want a miracle cure. If I answer members posts, and ask an
earnest question about their condition with the possibly of maybe
giving them some help, rarely is it responded to.

That is not to say I have met several people in the forum and told
them of my experiences with dvt intervention surgery. Two of these
individuals I spoke to over the phone. They listened to my
experiences and sought treatment, and the outcomes were very
successful. However, don't post your phone number in the forum crying
for help, and when I respond to you I get completely dissed. I just
may have info that might help you, because you are completely ignorant
of dvt intervention surgery and do not have a clue.

I have had three dvts and intervention surgery on all three wit... read more

Hi...

Since from 15days he is wearing the compression stocking to the right knee, now he is getting some unavoidable pain above the thigh. Please anyone can advise us whether this pain is normal or we should concern the Doctor for the clarification?????

A little over a month ago I pulled a hamstring that swelled up so much it caused a
dvt. My quad and calf started hurting as well I thought nothing of it, finally my
foot went numb and I went to the hospital. Spent 9 days in the hospital got lysis
and the procedure to remove the dvt, the dr got all of it up to my ankle than put
me on xarelto. Since the procedure and starting the xarelto my foots still numb
for over 3 weeks

Will I get feeling back in my foot? Will the numbness go away? Am I too
impatient?

Chronic DVT treatment

I just wanted to share my story so that others who have been told that their DVT is "too old" to treat aggressively might be helped. I had an iliac vein DVT (down my whole leg) 11 years ago, with two recurrences both times I stopped warfarin. Two attempted stent procedures 10 years ago failed..."vein is too scarred and clot too hard to open up." One month ago, I had another procedure using TPA to dissolve the clot, then stents placed successfully. I have heard/read that so many doctors declare their is a "window" for TPA therapy (very short, like 10-20 days?) and they won't use it after that.

Anyway, my chronic pain is gone, no leg swelling, and no activity restrictions. I was diagnosed with May-Thurner syndrome, but now the narrow section of vein is opened up and I'm hopeful that I won't have any more problems.

Dr. Keith Sterling, Inova Alexandria hospital in Northern Virginia/DC suburbs, performed my procedure. He's an interventional radiologist, and he said that many prima... read more

Hi All,

Getting to the point I am having problems controling my INR levels. I was at 2.6 my 2nd week of treatment and since then leveled off to 1.5 for 3 weeks in a row. They are rising my dosage to 10mg twice a week and 7.5mg the other days. I control my vit k intake and I am really confused as to why this is doing this????

Has anyone experienced this and why?

Thanks,
Danielle

P.S- I am not responsable for mispelled words as it is very early in the states and have'nt slept very well since I have gotten this DVT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry

I was diagnosed with a DVT in my left calf 2wks ago. I have been on Fragmin which
was stopped on friday, I am now taking oral anticoagulants. This morning when I
went to bend down my calf feels like it is hardening again. I was wondering if I am
just panicking or if I should call the hospital and talk to someone?

Having had an Aortic Valve replacement 12 years ago and been taking warfarin ever since. I have learned a lot of useful information for warfarin users. I've been to hell and back health wise because of it's and other effects.
I have now published in an Ebook available via kindle. This will interest all you warfarin users. I have found much health benefit by increasing my raw vegetable and fruit diet, plus ways to balance the negative effects of warfarin and thus feel healthier.
Check out my story on my web www. warfarinwizard.com site where you can also access the book or read the preview.
